MSAR Government issues warning regarding fraudulent website falsely claiming to represent the Chief Executive

MACAU, October 9 - The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government has noted the recent appearance of a non-official English-language website that uses a deceptive domain name and incorporates the photograph and name of the Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai.

The Government hereby solemnly clarifies that the said website is not an official platform. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and refrain from accessing the link, in order to safeguard their personal data and cybersecurity.

The only official website of the Chief Executive is the website of the Office of the Chief Executive, accessible at https://www.gce.gov.mo/ and available in the MSAR’s two official languages, Chinese and Portuguese. Additionally, the Chief Executive launched on 1 October a personal blog, which is hosted as a dedicated column within the Office of the Chief Executive website.

The fraudulent website incident has been reported to the Judiciary Police for follow-up. The Government advises that if members of the public have any doubts about websites or messages purportedly issued in the name of MSAR Government officials or departments, they should verify the information directly through the official contact channels of the relevant government entities.

Anyone who suspects they have encountered online fraud or identified a fraudulent website is urged to report it immediately to the police, either by calling the Judiciary Police’s Anti-Scam Inquiry Hotline on 8800 7777 or the emergency hotline on 993 for assistance.
