ASOIF Endorses 2025–2032 Strategy, Initiates New Governance Review

(MENAFN) The Council of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) has endorsed its Strategy 2025–2032, marking a new phase in the organization’s long-term vision for Olympic sport governance. Meeting on Monday for the first time since its new composition was elected in June, the Council also initiated the sixth governance review of its member federations to reinforce transparency, integrity, and accountability across the Olympic movement.

Convened ahead of the upcoming 2025 International Federation Forum in Lausanne, the meeting set out to strengthen the collective influence and operational effectiveness of International Federations (IFs). ASOIF identified three core priorities for its new strategic plan: “Advocacy, Influence and Representation,” “Olympic Games Excellence,” and “Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing.” The strategy is scheduled for an official rollout in early 2026, according to ASOIF.

ASOIF President Ingmar De Vos stated: "I am very pleased the Council has embraced the new strategy, which has our members' priorities and needs at its heart. It also continues to prioritise IF governance, which is the most important to protect the IFs' values, credibility and autonomy. We will share the details with our members soon and then commence the implementation phase in early 2026."

To further strengthen governance standards, each member federation will be required to complete a self-evaluation questionnaire in January 2026. The results will be reviewed and moderated by I Trust Sport, an independent sports governance consultancy. The sixth review, which officially began on October 22, is expected to publish its findings in the summer of 2026.

During the meeting, the Council also appointed International Volleyball Federation President Fabio Azevedo as ASOIF’s representative on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Board for a term running from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028.

Council members received updates on preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, as well as the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The organization also confirmed that its 50th General Assembly will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 26, 2026.
